Výhodná
poloha na križovatke významných obchodných ciest dopomohla rozvoju mesta. V
roku 1271 ju začlenili medzi mestá organizované v Spoločenstve spišských Sasov.
Po poľskom zálohu sa stala členom zväzku Provincie 16 spišských miest.
V Spišskej Belej sa v roku 1802 narodil vynikajúci matematik, fyzik a vynálezca
fotografického objektívu J. M. Petzval.
Kostol sv. Antona pustovníka pochádza z rokov 1263-1265. V roku 1612
bola obnovená veža. V roku 1720 jeho interiér zbarokizovali. Z gotického zariadenia
ostali dve sochy na hlavnom oltári. Z nich vyniká socha sv. Mikuláša. Cenná
je aj renesančná lavica z roku 1502.
Zvonica je renesančná z konca 16. storočia.
Evanjelický kostol patrí medzi tolerančné barokovo-klasicistické kostoly
bez veže. Postavený bol v roku 1784.
Mariánsky stĺp a socha Immaculaty pochádza z 18. stor.
Dom J.M.Petzvala - dnes múzeum fotografie, je neskororenesačná, pôvodne
prízemná budova.
The
development of this town was caused by the advantageous position on the crossing
of business routes. In 1271 it was embodied in The Community of Spiš' Germans.
Then it was given as a deposit to Poland and after that it became a member of
the Province of 16 Towns of Spiš.
In 1802 J.M. Petzval was born in Spišská Belá. He was an excellent mathematician,
physicist and the inventor of the lens.
The Church of St. Anthony the Pilgrim comes from 1263-1265. In 1720
its interior was modified in Baroque style. In 1612 the tower was renovated.
From the Gothic equipment, only two statues on the main altar remained. St.
Nicholas' statue is the most famous. A Renaissance pew from 1502 is very precious,
too.
The Bell Tower was built in Renaissance style at the end of the 16th
Century.
Lutheran Church is one of the tolerationist churches that were built
in Baroque-Classicism style. It has no tower and comes from 1784.
Marian Post and the Immaculate Statue come from the 18th Century.
House of J.M. Petzval is a museum of photography nowadays. It is built
in late Renaissance style and originally had only one floor.
